There turned out to be more damage than the initial look revealed but they were able to replace and paint the soffit where you can't even tell there was work done.

I'm not a drywall expert, but our contractor was very impressed with the work they did! And our contractor is hard to impress. His team worked very efficiently, and cleaned up really well after they were done; they left it better than they found it! Also important was he always gave us his honest opinion about what was necessary or not (how smooth the ceiling vs. walls have to be). Never felt like he was trying to upsell us or anything. Bonus - We also got into a bad situation with one of our other contractor/vendors. We ended up mentioning it to Harry because basically the other vendor threatened to stop working for us, which would have impacted Harry's timeline for drywall. He is such a good guy, he kind of coached us through it and offered suggestions for how we could resolve it. Gosh darn it Harry, you are such a good man, and an even better business owner. If you've read this far, just hire him.
